Man Advantage 5: Full Spoiler Guide
At 12:43 a.m. after a closed captain’s skate, Bria Keane walks in on Henrik Varga and Niall Madigan beating each other bloody in the practice rink. The fight bursts a pipe, and the three of them tear out a service grate to pull three drowning kittens free. The men put Nacho, Crumpet and Tater in her arms, take her phone, and install a shared calendar invite titled KITTEN REPORTS. Man Advantage 5 is Lady Heartswell’s why-choose hockey romance about exes, expansion bids and equity: the woman is the operational brain, and the negotiation scene is explicitly called foreplay.
What it is
Bria, twenty-two, runs Keane After Dark, a ticketed party company, from her own attic with forty-seven dollars in checking. Henrik is the Wardens’ captain and a billionaire who engineered Niall’s trade out of Montreal after Niall asked whether they could stop keeping separate apartments. Both men are gay; both want her. The plot is Henrik’s UHL expansion bid, Bria’s proof-of-model live event, and an owner, Warren Bell, who wants a non-traditional household kept out of the sponsor image. The book runs on colour-coded calendars with black blocks that are “not yours to ask about.”
Who will love it
Readers of MMF sports romance who want the M/M second-chance arc developed in its own right, a heroine who negotiates equity on the spot (Niall overwriting Henrik’s twenty-two with twenty-five), and a breeding-kink thread that begins as a bounded fantasy and ends as a deliberately scheduled conception. Wry, procedural, warm.
Tropes
- Why-choose MMF; second chance between the two men; exes on the same team
- Billionaire; age gap; grumpy/sunshine (Henrik’s stillness, Niall’s charm)
- Animal rescue as meet-cute and recurring anchor; the woman who refuses to be rescued
- Media leak; grovel by contract; breeding kink; planned pregnancy; household ceremony with no state licence
Heat
Site heat level: Dark. On the page: explicit and frequent, eight scenes from chapter 5 — voyeurism first (she watches the men against the lockers), then a first three-way night gated on current lab reports and forty-eight hours without alcohol; a reproductive veto in the household agreement; conception only after she schedules her own implant removal.
Content notes
Graphic fistfights and a bench-clearing brawl; kittens twice near-drowned, one briefly unresponsive; covert reading of private records and buying the mortgage on the heroine’s home; a partner’s fertility written up as a business asset; a non-consensual leak of private videos; homophobia used as leverage; a lighting-truss collapse with one injury; explicit MMF and M/M sex; childbirth.
Full plot, with spoilers
Bria refuses to let Henrik pay the clinic bill in full and sets terms: no searching her address, bank or classes. Henrik reveals he has already read the incident log listing her declined card. Niall confronts Henrik in the video room about the trade; they kiss for the first time since the split and agree not to buy her. In a stopped service elevator Bria states her first rule: “I want both of you close. If I move you, you move.” The midpoint: she learns Henrik quietly bought the mortgage note on her rented house through Kestrel Residential Trust after she forbade him to buy her lease; she forces the note into an independent manager with a twelve-month sale bar and a tenant right of first refusal, organises a tenant committee, and bars both men from her room for a week. Then Kittens on Ice — three thousand people, forty-three adoption applications, zero violations — with the expansion panel in the owner’s suite, and she refuses a salaried title in favour of equity.
In the recovery room Niall says he pictured Bria carrying their child; they speak the fantasy with “no contracts, no names, no nursery.” The next morning Niall finds the LEGACY STRUCTURE memo pricing her as a maternal asset, with two of his own margin comments, and silently deletes them. Bria reads it in a room of six lawyers, revokes every file she built, invoices for the rescue skate, presents the failure as her own capstone case study and scores highest in the class. The men trigger a brawl over an insult, are suspended, and begin counselling. All three kittens escape into a flash freeze; a human chain over a retention pond pulls an unresponsive Tater out, and he revives inside Henrik’s shirt. Bria writes twelve pages of corporate and household terms with independent counsel for each person; the men sign both before sending them back. Warren leaks her old party videos and offers the bid back if she is removed; Niall takes the podium instead, naming Henrik as the man he loves and Bria as an earned equal owner, and the league opens an ownership-conduct inquiry.
The ending (spoiler)
A lighting truss fails at an eight-hundred-guest event; Bria clears the room in eighty-seven seconds, re-enters for a trapped volunteer against her own protocol, and logs her own one-second delay. That night she signs the household agreement. The three buy a limestone house above the lake on an equal deed with an east room of painted gold stars kept deliberately undefined. Bria presents the bid to the league opening with the photograph of the collapsed truss, offers eighteen months of audited milestone gates, and refuses to disclose the private household agreement; the bid is restored to conditional review — “Our governance.” Henrik proposes at breakfast with no ring (they had bought fourteen between them); a household ceremony on the lake terrace with three plain gold bands and no state licence; Bria graduates, has her implant removed on her own schedule, and they conceive in the star-ceilinged room. The Wardens lose the conference final in seven. Maeve is born; Bria assigns night shifts — Henrik ten to one, Niall one to four, both at four-oh-one.
