On the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday, bookshop worker Ember Nightshade is pulled through her grandmother’s handwritten book into Everwood, the realm where all stories originate, and learns she is a Narrative-Weaver whose glowing skin marks a heritage her family hid to protect her.

Guided by the bookshop owner Theo—secretly a centuries-old Winter Court Scriptmancer—she trains to control a power that can heal damaged tales and cross between worlds, hoping to rescue the parents who vanished into a corrupted narrative.

As the boundary between fiction and reality frays, the feuding Summer and Winter Courts each maneuver to control her, and a scheme that trapped her best friend inside a story forces Ember to decide whose rules she will follow.

The book insists throughout that a magical ‘bond’ can reveal attraction but that only choice and consent make it real.
