Emma Walker wakes in a hospital seventeen days after a boating accident, missing five years of memory and unable to recognize the elegant surgeon who says he is her husband.

Back at their cliffside home near an old lighthouse, small contradictions pile up—an allergy she never had, a sister who doesn’t exist, roses she has always hated—and hidden letters in her own handwriting suggest she was planning to flee with her young daughter.
