Chad’s Cursed Build: Complete Series Guide
Chad Baconizer dies at 1:47 a.m. doing one more neck-harness set during an aggressive cut, and wakes on warm stone under a gold STATUS panel in an “Assigned Shell: Human Woman, Adult.” Offered three classes with exceptional shell compatibility, he tells the gods his shell can file its own application. Jax A. River’s Chad’s Cursed Build is a four-book isekai gender-bender LitRPG in which a tank build and a slave revolt are the same plot: a Force-7 protagonist who never gets stronger, only smarter, and a sanctioned hero party that turns out to be the villains.
The premise
Chad keeps his name, his voice and his refusal of the imposed identity; the world of Amarat keeps calling the shell “she.” His hidden class is unlocked by role conflict — a tank who draws aggro by declaring himself the boss — and his signature skill, Blood Mark, can target an ownership network as a single hostile structure. The Crowned Four, the kingdom’s chosen heroes, are running a soul economy: captives collared, liens on lives, a municipal water grid that is secretly a ritual. Chad’s household — Zafira, Elka, Ione, Tomas and the others — is a reverse harem with F/F pairings that are not staged for him, and by Book 3 the rule is written: the household has no head.
Who will love it
Readers of gender-bender isekai who want the protagonist’s identity to hold rather than dissolve; readers of tank-class LitRPG and aggro-management fiction where threat tables are characterisation; and readers who like their chosen-ones-are-the-villains plot backed by a genuinely political dungeon — auction houses, water boards, propaganda relays, an imperial succession. Comedy comes from Chad’s gym-bro literalism; the stakes are captives counted in the tens of thousands.
Tropes, series-wide
- Isekai by death; gender-bender resisted; LitRPG stat panels; hidden class via role conflict
- Tank build / aggro as identity; sacrificial-tank near-death at single-digit Health
- Reverse harem / why-choose household; F/F on the page; chosen family with no head
- Slave-collar captivity and revolt; the heroes are the villains; corrupt empire as dungeon
- Framed as a monster; propaganda and information warfare as combat; hostage mechanics — you cannot smash the objective
- Deal with the devil refused three times; spectator gods wagering; babies epilogue
Heat
Site badge Open door across the series. On the page the romance is moderate and consent-forward — the series’ recurring threat is forced feminisation and “correction,” which is always resisted and never eroticised.
Reading order and full spoilers
Book 1 — Nice Body, Wrong Loadout
Collared and sold, Chad escapes through the House of Refusal and returns to the Chain Market as a buyer. He declares himself the boss on the auction balcony and pulls thirty-one of thirty-six guards. The core guardian is Khar, an Ironback Ogre with a control script carved into his face; every point of damage to him transfers to 169 linked captives. Chad overrides Blood Mark to target the entire ownership network — 9,600 HP of stolen vitality — and severs the hubs one by one while refusing every clean opening on the slaver Sennik. Zafira spends the Crown of Unassigned Names to strip the PROPERTY designation from every captive.
Book 2 — I Can Take All of Them at Once
Echo-paper wanted notices name Chad a soul thief of exactly 812 souls — the Crowned Four’s own reserve ledger with his face pasted on. The city of Varos’s water grid is a soul ritual; the Floodworks Custodian is beaten with zero body damage by opening four sluices and breaking five pressure locks. Chad twice refuses to claim Key Three because claiming it means administering 19,102 liens; the hero Cedran accepts instantly. Chad chooses the collapsing streets over the Key: 3,406 residents moved, zero Health lost; Tomas snaps his own route bond so Elka’s arrow can cut it; the Crowned Four gate away with three Keys.
Book 3 — Our Heroes Specced Into Genocide
A prison intake scan opens IMPERIAL SUCCESSION ROUTE DETECTED: Chad is now Imperial Consort Candidate, “required correction before marriage: pending.” He wins a rigged public correction duel by ignoring Sennik’s broadcast image and stabbing the source shell beneath the arena; in the tunnels he Counterclaims ten damage commands onto himself, drops to 9 Health, and frees 42 captive souls. Zafira seizes Sennik’s distribution authority but leaves viewer choice alone. The Ascension Construct rises — 8.9 million Health, 24,830 captive souls as armour, an 18.6 million country pool — and Cedran orders FULL NATIONAL IGNITION on a 45-second timer. Elka cuts twelve anchors so the recoil goes upward. Cliffhanger.
Book 4 — Heaven Restored My Legendary Drop
Three villains each sell a real benefit with an ownership hook — free healing that removes the soul, a restored original body, a clean ending — and each offers Chad his old loadout. He refuses all three. Cedran drives all four Keys into his chest and substitutes 18,071,902 Country Health for his own bar; Chad declares “nobody damages him” and fights with only non-damaging verbs while Zafira asks the country whether it recognises Cedran’s ownership of its life, and thousands answer no separately. The title breaks, Cedran’s bar returns at 31%, and Chad kills him in a straight duel. The surviving Key then begins a twelve-second merge to make Amarat itself the vessel; Chad holds the pulse and ends it on his own terms — the body stays, the name stays. Babies epilogue.
Where it sits
Complete at four books. Jax A. River’s other series: Hell Raid Harem and Angel Queen, which shares the gender-bender premise with a very different protagonist.
