What Makes a Good Thriller Hook

A thriller hook has one job: make the reader need the next answer. That does not always require explosions or spectacle. Often the strongest hook is a clear problem with consequences that arrive quickly.

Good thriller openings establish who is at risk, what changes if the problem is not solved, and why delay makes everything worse.

For readers, the best sign is momentum. If the first pages create a clean question and the next pages complicate it, the story is doing its job.
